Our Story
The Salt Cave
Our salt cave is man-made — a recreation of the natural environmental conditions of an underground salt mine. This type of therapy originated in Eastern Europe when monks noticed that patients treated in salt caves experienced improved respiratory symptoms.
Salt therapy clinics opened in Poland in 1843 after it was discovered that salt mine workers enjoyed better health and immune function than coal miners. In 460 B.C., Hippocrates himself recommended salt inhalation as a respiratory treatment and used salt and water to cure skin diseases.
Today, Mon Ami Salt Cave & Spa carries on this healing tradition, offering a serene Himalayan salt environment where guests can breathe deeply, relax, and restore their well-being.
